Maesteg Squash Club was established in 1979, by three local businessmen. In 1982 the club was taken over by its members and became a members club.
The squash club thrived for many years, with internal squash leagues and teams playing across South Wales.
The club has developed many welsh international players at all ages, including Gavin Jones, who ranked 38 in the world and represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games.
More recently, the club has diversified by becoming Maesteg Sports and Social Club. This was done to reflect our aim to become a community hub for sport and wellbeing as well as a great location to hold a wide range of functions and social events.
The Club is home to Maesteg Squash club, a karate club and the Hen Blwyf/Old Parrish Running Club.
The club offers a range of first-class facilities including three squash courts, a karate club, a gymnasium as well as male and female changing rooms.
The club has recently received a major refurbishment, including renovation of the bar area and the other hospitality facilities.
The club is available for hire and is an ideal location for events of up to 80 people. We can provide buffets for events such as christenings, parties and funerals.
There is ample free car parking available at the club.
Maesteg Squash Club is one of the most famous squash clubs in Wales. It has an illustrious history, including winning several British League titles, hosting a team of world-class players.
Maesteg Sports & Social Club is one of the few private squash clubs in Wales, with some of the best facilities for squash in the country. The facilities include a glass court with a viewing gallery able to hold up to 60 people.
There are three courts in total and the club has teams playing in the Mid Glamorgan Squash Leagues. We welcome new players of all abilities, whether you want to play competitively or just get a bit fitter.
We are a friendly club, that enjoys the social side of squash! Every Monday we host a ‘Club Night’ where you can play a friendly game of squash with any squash players who turn up on the night. This is a great chance to have a try squash or to get back into the game if you haven’t played for a while.
Coaching is available for all levels including children and ladies, our coaching led by Sally Davis, Squash Wales Club Coach of the year 2019.
Please see below the club’s membership options.
